South Korea has established itself as one of the world's leading biopharmaceutical manufacturing hubs, supported by a strong ecosystem of biologics developers, manufacturers and CDMOs. Continued investment from major players including Samsung Biologics, Celltrion and LOTTE BIOLOGICS is further expanding the country's manufacturing capabilities and strengthening Korea's position in the global biologics supply chain.

This momentum is being supported by significant capacity expansion and next-generation manufacturing investments. Samsung Biologics' Plant 5 has added 180,000 litres of manufacturing capacity in Songdo, while Celltrion has announced further investment in new drug-substance facilities. LOTTE BIOLOGICS is also developing its Songdo Bio Campus, with its first 120,000-litre manufacturing facility progressing towards commercial operations in 2027.

As Korea's biomanufacturing capacity continues to grow, the focus is increasingly shifting towards how that capacity can be operated more efficiently — from improving upstream productivity and overcoming downstream bottlenecks to accelerating scale-up, technology transfer, process control and digitalisation. These priorities are creating new opportunities for collaboration between biopharma manufacturers, CDMOs and technology providers.

Taking place on 26–27 May 2027 in Seoul, Connexius Bioprocessing Korea 2027 will bring together the region's bioprocessing community to explore the technologies and strategies advancing process development and manufacturing excellence. The two-day conference and exhibition will cover upstream and downstream processing, process intensification, analytical development & PAT, scale-up & MSAT, technology transfer, flexible manufacturing, automation, AI and next-generation biomanufacturing.
